Bite Me

Bite Me is the name of Christopher Moores new book. It is the third book in the Jody the vampire story. They started with Blood Sucking Fiends followed by You Suck and this last attempt I must say, really let me down. Let me first say that Christopher Moore is hilarious. If you are looking for a Twilightesque vampire love story, this is not your book. The third installment starts where You Suck left off. Jody and Tommy have been encased in bronze while their human minions (Abby Von Normal and Foo Dog) try and figure out what to do with them. All the while Chet, the huge shaved vampire cat, is turning kitties all over San Francisco and it is getting out of hand. Hookers and homeless are disappearing left and right and the kitties grow bolder each night.

In the previous books by Moore, I always enjoyed him weaving the characters of other stories together and showing different views of San Francisco from the characters perspectives, however, Bite Me went just a little too far. Too many people, too many things going on and where the hell did Kona (popular in the book Fluke: Or I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings) come from? Did he just take all the off beat supporting characters from previous books and throw them in for no reason? Thats the way it came across.

Out of all his books I have read, and I have read many, this was my least favorite. Bloodsucking Fiends was by far the best of the series but if you are interested in Christopher Moore you should try Fool or Practical Deamonkeeping. Those will rock your stripy socks. :)
